about
Revisiting themes of violence seen in earlier single Painmonger, Bloodsport takes its core and examines it under a different, decidedly warmer lens--intimate exchange. What happens when pain is valued for its emotional impact rather than its sensational merit? Throughout the track, this concept is un-parceled through the narrative of sharing play, particularly when it verges into darker territories. Each verse beginning with the tactile and slicing through until it hits the psyche, Bloodsport is a testament to curiosity, pleasure, and ultimately, care.
lyrics
Lyrics:
I want to tear into your skin
Trace fingers through the hues
I’ve not explored much sharing pain
But I think I’m ready to
Is it red like everybody says,
Or are you something else?
Are you more than iron sinews
Tangled up in good health?
Don’t worry, I’ll be fine
Don’t worry, I said I’ll be alright
Use the sharp end of the knife
And trust in me this time
Oh, do you like the way it feels--
Euphoric metal play?
Across the tender parts of you,
Daring to give it way
What is it that haunts your mind?
What darkness do you guard?
Will you open up to me?
Or will this leave us scarred?
Don’t worry, I’ll be fine
Don’t worry, I said I’ll be alright
Use the sharp end of the knife
And trust in me this time
Don’t worry, you’ll be fine
Don’t worry, I said I’m alright
Use the sharp end of the knife
And trust in me this time
